Offering free/low cost doula services and education to
teen mothers in Southeastern Wisconsin.
TLC Doula and Educational Services, LLC was a business
that I started back in 2004. At that time I did a lot of volunteer work
with teen mothers teaching childbirth and new parent education as well as doing
labor doula work. I realized that the work I was doing was so rewarding
and it was a passion of mine. As time progressed I added many more services
to the list of things that I offered and in 2006 I decided to change the name of
my business to accommodate the changes I was making. It was then that
Hardy Alternative Health Services,
LLC began. It was also then that I had a new vision
for TLC Doula and Educational Services,
LLC!! My vision was to create a group that would be
able to help teen mothers during the very important transition from being a teen
to becoming a mother. This project provides guidance through every step of
the journey - from early pregnancy to after the baby is born through childbirth
education, doula services, and new parent classes.
Currently the project is
only offering services to teen mothers who will have no support through their
pregnancy, labor and delivery (teens who would otherwise be completely alone
throughout their labor and birth), but in the future I do plan to widen who will
receive services. Unfortunately at this time the project is still in its
newest stages and therefore is very restrictive in who can be assisted. In
the future I hope to become a non profit organization so that more services can
be offered and who we assist can be widened to include many more individuals.
I believe that by
providing teens with education and/or doula services and guidance it will help
them start off on the right path towards parenthood. I also believe that
by providing services it will help teens learn how to cope with the new stresses
of parenthood, teach parent/child bonding, and will improve the parent/child
relationship which will lead to healthy beginnings for the infant/child.
If you are a teen who is
in need of services please feel free to
e-mail me for more information. If
you are an individual or group who would like to assist with these efforts
either through offering free services or support please feel free to contact me
as well. I am always looking for assistance!
